New Delhi, 23 May 2025: The Delhi government on Friday issued an advisory on the Covid-19 disease, asking hospitals in the national capital to ensure the availability of beds, oxygen, medicines and vaccines.
Delhi health minister Pankaj Singh on Friday informed that 23 fresh Covid cases have been reported in the city, adding that the government is verifying details of the infections to determine if patients are residents of city or have travel history.
Government’s Proactive Measures
Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that the 23 cases were confirmed as of Thursday. Authorities are verifying whether the patients are residents of Delhi or have any travel history outside the city. The government has coordinated with medical superintendents, doctors, and their teams to ensure readiness.
Hospital Preparedness
The advisory instructs hospitals to ensure the functionality of all essential equipment, including ventilators, Bi-PAP machines, oxygen concentrators, and PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) plants. Daily reporting of all critical parameters on the Delhi State Health Data Management Portal is also mandated.
Genome Sequencing and Surveillance
All positive COVID-19 samples are to be sent for genome sequencing to Lok Nayak Hospital. This measure aims to monitor potential new variants and enhance surveillance.
Public Health Advisory
The government emphasizes the importance of following respiratory etiquette, including the mandatory wearing of masks within hospital premises and other health facilities. The public is urged not to panic but to remain cautious and adhere to hygiene practices.
