Alarming Surge in Hong Kong
In Hong Kong, authorities have reported a significant spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks. Dr. Albert Au, head of the Communicable Disease Branch at the Centre for Health Protection, stated that the level of COVID-19 activity in the city is now “quite high.” According to official data, the number of respiratory samples testing positive for the virus is nearing peak levels recorded during the previous wave.
One of the most concerning aspects of the latest outbreak is the rising number of severe cases and hospitalisations.
