A fire broke out at a private cancer hospital in South Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur area on Monday afternoon. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident, according to officials.
The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received a call from Oncoplus Hospital at Kotla Mubarakpur at 12:35 PM, reporting the fire. Eight fire tenders were quickly sent to the scene to control the blaze. The fire started at a meter board located on the ground floor of the multi-story building. The firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within a few minutes.
An official from the DFS confirmed that no one was injured in this incident.
This incident brings to mind two other recent fires at hospitals in Delhi that had more tragic outcomes. In one case, a fire broke out at an eye hospital in Lajpat Nagar. Although there were no casualties, the incident caused significant damage and disrupted medical services for several days.
In a more heart-breaking incident, a fire at the Delhi Children’s Hospital claimed the lives of seven babies. This tragedy highlighted the urgent need for improved fire safety measures in hospitals, particularly in critical care areas where patients are more vulnerable.
These incidents underline the importance of stringent fire safety protocols in hospitals to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
