New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday detected positive coronavirus.
In a tweet on his official account, the Chief Minister wrote, in Hindi: “My dear countrymen, I was having COVID-19 symptoms and, after a test, my report came back positive”.
Mr Chouhan also appealed to all colleagues and individuals “who has come in contact with me to get their coronavirus test done”.
It is pertinent to mention here that few days back, a cabinet minister in his government was among the 215 people who tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 in Bhopal.
The minister who hails from the Gwalior-Chambal region, had played a key role in the fall of the 15-month-old Kamal Nath led Congress government during March in Madhya Pradesh.
The minister is among the three close confidants of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the council of ministers.
With this so far, five BJP MLAs and three Congress MLAs, including an ex-ministers have tested positive for COVID-19 in the state.
A total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has risen to over 13 lakh while the recovery rate now stands at 63.5 percent.
Today is the 124th day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic.
So far, India has recorded 13,36,861 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 31,358 deaths.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases.
However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Assam.
Globally, there have been over 1.56 crore confirmed cases.
A ten day total lock-down has been ordered in Bhopal, starting from July 24 evening, in the wake of sudden spurt in COVID-19 cases since last 10 days.
